MEET SYDNEY

When I think of my earliest childhood memories, I immediately find myself at  Candlestick Park in
San Francisco for a 49ers game sitting with my family yelling 'Defense' as loud as a kindergartner could. Awe-struck by the roar of the crowd, immersed in spirit and tradition, my love for sports was born. From that age on, that love grew into a passion for storytelling.  Living and growing in different states and towns, I’ve learned that all sports have a unique way to
bring people together.

I am a freelance sports anchor most recently working at WXYZ ABC 7 in Detroit covering the Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings. In addition to this role, I am a Sports Anchor/Reporter at NewsNet featured on Sports Illustrated’s digital platforms hosting a 30-minute sports show called Sports News Highlights. Leading up to those positions, I was the Host/Executive Producer at State Champs Network also located in Metro Detroit. In this role, I was a key contributor to the creation, launch, and development of a brand-new platform called State Champs Women focused on highlighting female sports and athletes.

I graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State in 2017. While in college, I was lucky enough to cover the Milwaukee Brewers during Spring Training and won a student Emmy Award for one of my feature stories. From there I was the lead Sports Anchor/Reporter at the NBC affiliate in Midland, Texas. Following my time in Texas, I took a Sports Anchor/Reporter position at ABC12 in Flint, Michigan, before ultimately arriving in the Metro Detroit area. I’ve also been afforded the opportunity to add sideline reporting to my resume covering the Oakland University Men’s and Women’s basketball on ESPN+ and the Watch ESPN App.

My passion for sports goes beyond the final scores of the game. Through storytelling, I strive to connect the community with their heroes on the field not only for broadcast but for all digital platforms as well.

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and grew up a die hard fan for the 49ers, A's, Sharks, and Warriors.

During some downtime, I am usually catching up on my favorite professional and college teams or tuning in to the

newest chick flick on Netflix.
